Due to the growth of GNT UK Ltd as a subsidiary of the GNT Group we are seeking a:

Food Applications Technologist (M/F, FT)

What do we expect of you?

The right person will join our local Applications team and work closely with Technical Sales colleagues to assist in developing solutions for the application of GNT’s EXBERRY® Colouring Food ingredients. Whilst our work can be in response to customer briefs, we are also looking for someone who can identify and create new business opportunities and assist in the smooth running of the laboratory.

Job description

  • Provide application support, evaluate product performance (taste and stability) over shelf life and troubleshoot technical issues in a wide range of food applications.

  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritise between a variety of business initiatives within tight deadlines.

  • Enter and maintain accurate records of work, including project status, formulations, process instructions, evaluations, as well as supporting documentation such as technical data sheets.

  • Apply food processing knowledge and technical findings to develop proactively new product applications and grow meaningful business opportunities.

  • Keep up to date on new ingredients, formulation new technologies to provide our customers with cutting edge solutions

  • Keep up to date with latest food trends, natural colours market evolution and industry challenges in beverages and other food applications

  • Attend relevant conferences and identify resources (internal and external) to enhance capabilities and continuously improve technical support

  • Communicate to cross-functional teams with a high degree of autonomy.

  • Interact at group level to support colleagues, share technical knowledge and strengthen GNT knowhow

  • The position may require occasional travel both within the UK and to our European facilities.

What can you offer us?

The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Degree or higher education qualification in food science or food technology

  • 3+ years’ experience in the food industry, preferably in the sweet sector (beverage, confectionery, dairy)

  • Excellent technical skills and broad understanding of food and drink categories (non-alcoholic drinks, alcoholic drinks, confectionery, dairy, bakery, savoury)

  • Knowledge of food ingredients, formulation and interaction, specifically within food colours /flavours would be an advantage.

  • Broad awareness of food and beverage industry processes across the categories highlighted.

  • Demonstrating good project management and time management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritise, plan, and deliver projects on time to a high standard

  • Proven ability to assimilate technical information and to document projects with attention to details and present results with commercial relevance

  • Capable of working on specific customer briefs and also on pro-active projects to develop new business opportunities in line with market trends

  • Self-motivated with very good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to operate lab equipment (bench top and pilot) and maintain a safe and clean working environment
