EXBERRY® by GNT publishes its Sustainability Report 2022
EXBERRY® by GNT, the leading brand of natural colors from fruit and vegetables, has released its Sustainability Report for the year 2022. The report showcases the company’s efforts and achievements in making its plant-based EXBERRY® colors more sustainable for people and planet.
The report also reveals some of the challenges the company faced and how it overcame them. In addition, it highlights some of the new initiatives the company has launched in the past year, such as its Policy on Sustainable Sourcing and its Greenhouse Gas Verification Statement.
The slogan for this year’s report is:
Leading the food color industry toward a better future.
This reflects EXBERRY® by GNT’s vision to be the most trusted and innovative partner for coloring food with food.
Some of the key findings of the report are:
- The company reduced its carbon intensity by 13% compared to its base year of 2020 and decreased its water consumption per ton of product sold by 5%.
- With regard to health and safety, the company’s lost-time incident (LTI) rate increased to 3.5, which is in line with the industry average but falls short of its ambition to be 25% below the industry benchmark.
- The company published its Policy on Sustainable Sourcing, with 70% of its suppliers meeting its standards already.
- All of its contract farmers complied with good agricultural practices and 66% achieved a minimum of FSA bronze compliance.
