Visitors to CFIA 2019 will get the chance to see up close how EXBERRY® natural coloring foods make the perfect partner for plant-based products.
Exhibiting on Stand C25.D26, representatives of GNT Group will be on hand to serve delicious vegan-friendly, non-dairy ice cream formulated with a selection of EXBERRY® colors, which are derived exclusively from fruit and vegetables.
The plant-based trend continues to gather pace. There was a 62% increase in the number of plant-based product claims between 2013 and 2017, according to Innova Market Insights. Over the same period, the number of new launches with a vegan claim on the label rose by an average of 46% every year. Major brands such as Ben & Jerry’s and Haagen Dazs have launched vegan versions of their products in response to growing demand.
Maartje Hendrickx, Market Development Manager, said: “Plant-based alternatives to meat and dairy products have gone mainstream, driven principally by Millennials shifting away from consuming animal products. Increasing numbers of celebrities and athletes have also revealed themselves to be vegan, which has encouraged their fans to follow suit.”
She continued: “This trend represents a great innovation opportunity, but it brings challenges, too. Newcomers to the plant-based category have high expectations. Often, they are not vegan and will quickly return to animal products if they feel the alternatives are not good enough. As a result, it’s important that plant-based foods really deliver in terms of looks and taste.”
At CFIA, which takes place in Rennes from 12-14 March 2019, GNT will focus on the rich potential for using EXBERRY® coloring foods to enhance the appearance of vegan-friendly products. Because they are extracted from fruit and vegetables, they are compatible with plant-based ingredients lists, while delivering superior visual impact, high performance and excellent stability in a range of applications. More than 400 natural shades are available.
EXBERRY® coloring foods are natural color ingredients obtained exclusively from fruits, vegetables and edible plants using gentle, physical processes such as pressing, chopping, filtering and concentrating. Consequently, they are not classed as additives but foods with coloring properties and, therefore, qualify for cleaner and clearer labelling declarations. Made with GNT’s own innovative processes, they can impart almost any color shade to foods and beverages and are ideally suited for industrial use.
To ensure the highest level of quality and year-round availability, GNT controls the entire EXBERRY® supply chain, with cultivation and harvesting monitored by GNT’s agricultural engineers.
