New EXBERRY® powders offer true natural and high-performing colors for instant beverages, pressed tablets and seasoned sweet and savory snacks

Mierlo, 12th July 2016 – The GNT Group, leading global provider of Coloring Foods, expands its portfolio of innovations: it is the first to market a micronized powder range exclusively based on Coloring Foods under its EXBERRY® brand. The new product range is ideal to give vibrant and natural colors to instant beverages, sweet and savory snacks, pressed tablets and seasonings, as well as chocolate and compound coatings.

“As a pioneer in using fruit and vegetables to color food, GNT is constantly looking for opportunities to support its clients in meeting today’s growing consumer demands for products free from additives and E numbers,” says Hendrik Hoeck, Managing Director of GNT Group and head of GNT’s innovation and R&D department. “With our new line, we are closing an existing gap in the market by giving manufacturers a real natural, micronized powders range made exclusively from Coloring Foods.”

For the production of GNT’s micronized powders, only fruit, vegetables and edible plants like radishes, purple potatoes, black carrots, safflower and spirulina are used. As for all EXBERRY® Coloring Foods, only water and gentle physical processing methods such as pressing, chopping and filtering are applied. No artificial additives, chemicals or organic solvents are included. The micronized powders are available in yellow, red, pink, purple and blue, and can be mixed to a wide spectrum of color shades.

Homogenous and stable colors for clear labelling

The micronized powders have a reduced particle size of 15 µm. This strongly enhances the adhesion properties in dry applications, guaranteeing highly homogenous and intense color solutions. Good water solubility and improved mixing stability for powder blends are additional major benefits of the new product range. Micronized powders, like all Coloring Foods, are ingredients and not additives, and can therefore be declared on the ingredient list as Coloring Food (concentrate of black carrots and radishes), for example. They offer a perfect solution for clean label products and are suitable for vegetarian, kosher and halal food.

“Food and drink manufacturers are looking for ingredients which meet their consumers’ expectations for more natural products. Especially the confectionery industry as well as savory snacks and instant beverage companies expect further growth by offering clear label solutions. This can definitively be achieved by GNT’s micronized powders: they meet consumer expectations to the fullest extent, whilst guaranteeing brilliant and stable color results,” says Hoeck.
