Bookkeeper

The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records by recording, reconciling, and verifying financial transactions. This role supports the Finance team with month-end close activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and other day-to-day accounting functions. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of bookkeeping, accounting, or finance experience, strong proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel, and excellent attention to detail.

The role:

  • Work closely with the Bookkeeper, Controller, and Director of Finance to support GNT’s accounting and bookkeeping operations.
  • Use accounting software to accurately classify, record, maintain, and analyze financial transactions and records.
  • Retrieve, sort, and distribute incoming mail.
  • Support the month-end close process, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting activities.
  • Manage accounts receivable functions, including applying customer payments in BC 14, processing customer credit card payments and check deposits, maintaining customer accounts, and updating payment terms as needed.
  • Process customer credit references to establish payment terms for new accounts.
  • Monitor past-due accounts and communicate with customers regarding outstanding balances.
  • Research and reconcile customer, vendor, bank, and general ledger account discrepancies.
  • Manage accounts payable functions, including entering vendor invoices, coding expenses to the appropriate vendor records or general ledger accounts, processing vendor payments through BC 14, resolving payment discrepancies, and preparing weekly check runs.
  • Process employee expense reimbursements as needed.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, inventory reports, and other financial analyses.
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and complete accounting records within the ERP system.
  • Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel to prepare reports, analyze financial data, and support accounting activities.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation and supporting prior-year financial and customer activity reviews.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to identify process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of financial and company information.
  • Perform other duties, special projects, and assignments as needed to support the Finance Department and meet business needs.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Complete all assigned safety training in a timely manner.
  • Stay current with all required training and ensure timely completion.
  • Follow the Company’s established processes, procedures, and policies, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards, and product quality guidelines.
  • Maintain a collaborative team mindset while actively supporting GNT’s Food Safety culture.

About you, as our ideal candidate:

  • 3-5 years of bookkeeping experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent education and professional experience
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaborating within a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software
